Meet U18 Prep Assistant Coach Nate Higgins

Assistant Coach Nate Higgins, is entering his third season with the U18 AAA team. In his past two seasons with the Stars, he helped Coach Rob lead the team to a regular season first place finish (2023-24) and two silver medals in the league championships ('23 & '24).

Coach Nate is passionate about player development both on and off the ice and wants players to fall in love with the game of hockey. His extensive background in the game has given him an invaluable eye to hone players' unique skills and talents, and to utilize them into a complete team game.

Coach Nate is a native Calgarian and was a multi-sport athlete growing up, playing both Hockey and Baseball at a high level. Hockey has taken him all over the world as a player. He played 1 year with the Calgary NW AAA Midget Flames who finished second at the Air Canada Cup, 3 years with the AJHL Calgary Canucks (‘99-‘02), one year with the USHL Green Bay Gamblers (‘02-‘03), which then lead him to earn a full ride scholarship to the NCAA DIV 1 at Wayne State University.  

 

Coach Nate would tell you with all that he is a family man first. He married his college sweetheart Sarah in 2010, and together they are raising 3 kids Ryleigh, Camrynn, & Carter.
